Podiatrists

Jack Fitzpatrick

I graduated from Latrobe University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Podiatry. I have been working in private practice in West Gippsland and the South East Suburbs ever since. I enjoy the broad range of conditions I am able to see in private practice, and have a wealth of experience, and particular interest in sports Podiatry, biomechanics and orthotic intervention.

My interest in these areas stems from my own background playing state representative basketball as a junior, as well as many years of senior football. While my days as a competitive sportsman are behind me, I understand the pressures and demands faced by athletes, and take great joy in helping people continue to participate in the sports and activities that they love.

I have also dedicated a lot of my career as a Podiatrist to providing skin and nail care, diabetic foot care and performing ingrown toenail surgeries.

I work between our Drouin and Wheelers Hill clinics.

Stuart Bastin

Stuart is one of the directors of Podium Podiatry. He is based at both the Drouin and Korumburra Clinics.

Stuart graduated from La Trobe University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Podiatry. After graduating he began working in aged care facilities, retirement villages and clinics located in the City of Casey and Cardinia shire. Twelve months after graduating Stuart took up the Senior Podiatrist role at the West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG) providing services across the Baw Baw shire.

After three years at WGHG, Stuart decided to return to private practice, working in Berwick for two years before opening Podium Podiatry with Jack Fitzpatrick in 2014. Stuart loves to have a chat, his favourite topic usually involves sport. Stuart enjoys working with children, high risk feet and providing Diabetic Foot Care.

David Kavanagh

My name is David, and I have over 20 years of experience as a Podiatrist, with expertise in treating complex foot and leg pain. I have always held a strong commitment to providing excellent, person-centered care.  Following my graduation from Huddersfield University (UK) in 2003, I had the privilege of working alongside leading Podiatrists both in the UK and Australia, as I gained extensive experience from hospital care and surgical triaging, through to paediatrics, aged care, and private services.

Though I am proficient in treating a breadth of clinical conditions, my expertise has been concentrated in diagnosing and treating biomechanical issues that can result in pain or dysfunction in the foot and leg. I am experienced in advanced orthotic prescription and trained in Prolotherapy, which has proven an effective treatment that can accelerate the successful rehabilitation of musculoskeletal problems.

I have remained a sports enthusiast since moving from the UK to Australia in 2010 and I am now settled and enjoying family life in Melbourne with my wife and children.  I have had my share of sports-related injuries from participating in rugby, squash, and cross-country running, so I realise how feet and legs can be taken for granted.  I take professional pride and feel privileged, in being able to help those with foot and leg issues, whether it be to achieve their sporting ambitions or to improve the quality of their everyday life.

Micaela Brereton

I have worked at Podium Podiatry since 2020, and am available for appointments at our Drouin and Korumburra clinics.

I graduated from La Trobe University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Podiatry.

I have worked in a large variety of health-care settings, public and private, metropolitan and regional, as a Registered Nurse and as a Podiatrist for over 25 years. I also ran my own clinics for many years prior to working with Podium Podiatry.

I enjoy all aspects of Podiatry, and am particularly passionate about the ageing population and maintaining foot health and functionality, to assist in healthy ageing.

I love to have a chat, usually about my kids, my horses and country life.
